Number Four

4 Butcher Row, Shrewsbury, SY1 1UW

The Story

Butcher Row is a cobbled medieval lane running behind Pride Hill, one of the main shopping streets, connecting it to the older market area. The frontages are narrow and the buildings are old. Number Four has been at number 4 long enough to build a following that puts it in the top twenty restaurants in Shrewsbury.

The café format runs from early morning through to the afternoon on most days, with Friday and Saturday evenings extending into dinner service. The menu covers breakfast, brunch and light lunches as the main trade, with daily specials and a kitchen that handles the full range without stretching itself too thin. The fish finger sandwiches are a regular recommendation. The portions are generous and the pricing is honest.

Vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian options are on the menu throughout.
